The St. Louis Blues announced Thursday that they had agreed to an affiliation with the St. Charles Chill of the CHL. The St. Louis Blues will be able to use the Chill as an organization to develop their upcoming prospects. The St. Louis Blues are also affiliated with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL who also help develop prospects.
The St. Charles Chill will begin their inaugural season in the CHL on Saturday, October 19th. The St. Louis Blues will now be able to send prospects up and down from the NHL to the AHL and the CHL. The Chill will be a big help in the development of prospects for the Blues, because unlike the Wolves, the Chill will be much closer to home for the Blues.
Jamie Rivers who was once a defenseman for the St. Louis Blues, is now the head coach and general manager of the St. Charles Chill. He had this to say about becoming a part of the Blues organization,
We’re excited and humbled to be part of the Blues organization. I know personally that they’re a first-class organization and I am thrilled to be part of it again. We will support the Blues’ hockey operations to the best of our abilities and we look forward to working with them.”
