NHL Injury Update: Boyle, St. Louis, Clowe, Drewiske, JVR, Rozsival, Soderberg, and Hagelin

David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reported that Dan Boyle flew back to San Jose yesterday. The San Jose Sharks defenceman was injured when they played the St. Louis Blues as a result of a hit by Maxim Lapierre. According to Pollak, Lapierre tried to call Boyle but Boyle did not answer.

Martin St. Louis is day-to-day with a lower body injury after taking a Drew Doughty shot off the foot on Tuesday when the Tampa Bay Lightning played the Los Angeles Kings. St. Louis hasn’t ruled out tonight’s game but Brett Connolly has been recalled by the Lightning.

Ryane Clowe will miss the next two games for the New Jersey Devils after he was elbowed in the head on Sunday. He had a headache afterward and with his history with concussions he will be sitting out as a precaution.

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Davis Drewiske will be out for the next 5-6 months after undergoing shoulder surgery.

James van Riemsdyk skated in Toronto Maple Leafs practice yesterday after missing Tuesday’s game. Still unclear as to whether he will play tonight.

Michal Rozsival may not play in tonight’s Chicago Blackhawks game due to sickness.

Good news for the Boston Bruins as Carl Soderberg has been cleared for contact. He is close to a return.

The New York Rangers will likely see Carl Hagelin back on October 29 as he has also been cleared for contact.
