Yes folks, it is the return of the ever popular injury update! Pleas hold the applause. Let’s start with the team with the most updates, the Detroit Red Wings. According to Ansar Khan, Darren Helm skated for the first time today since September 6th. Khan also reported that Johan Franzen did not skate today due to his hip flexor. Another Wing with hip flexor troubles, according to Helene St. James, is Jakub Kindl who left the game last night. Wings GM Ken Holland said though that Kindl injury is not serious. Khan also reported on one more Wing and that was Patrick Eaves who hurt his knee in a collision. The extent of Eaves injury will not be known for a day or two.
Next we move on to the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to David Alter Leafs tough guy Colton Orr left the ice before practice yesterday. Orr has been nursing a bone bruise since camp began. Two Leafs left last night’s game with injuries according to Jonas Siegel and Terry Koshan. Nazem Kadri left in the third period with a hand injury, it was reported today that his x-rays are clear. Jonathan Bernier left the game in the first period with a minor injury. Darren Dreger reported this morning that both Kadri’s and Bernier’s injuries are not serious and nothing to worry about.
The New York Islanders will be missing Cal Clutterbuck for a while according to Arthur Staples. Clutterbuck went to see a doctor and is said to be out for 4-6 weeks.
Shawn Mitchell reported some good news for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Nikita Nikitin has no fracture in his foot and will only be out for a few days.
Last but not least Marian Hossa will not be playing in the next 4 Chicago Blackhawks preseason games due to an upper body injury according to Scott Powers.
