$45.5 million later and the St. Louis Blues have their stud defenseman locked up for seven more years.
Restricted free agent Alex Pietrangelo and the Blues agreed to a new deal with an average annual salary of $6.5 million, Friday.
Last season, the 23-year-old defenseman played in 47 games of the shortened season and compiled 5 goals and 24 points. Since his rookie season in 2010, Pietrangelo is tied for 6th among defenseman in points (118). He was also the first Blues’ defenseman to record back-to-back 40 plus point seasons in 2010 and 2011.
It’s only a matter of time before Pietrangelo adds the “C” to his sweater. Currently one of the team’s alternate captains, he was drafted 4th overall in the 2008 NHL entry draft.
