The season hasn’t even started yet and already the injury prone Joffrey Lupul is having issues. According to the Toronto Maple Leafs website Lupul was having back spasms and was not cleared to skate in the first on-ice training session. Now don;t get me wrong I adore Joffrey Lupul however the man can’t seem to stay healthy for an extended period of time, which really hurts the team. Coach Randy Carlyle is not worried about Lupul’s condition:

“There’s always concern when a player gets hurt. It’s one of those things that he looked extremely well coming up to camp, and it’s unfortunate that this thing happened,” Carlyle said. “He’s put a lot of work in over the summer and looked very energized and very, very fit to come and play, but injuries are all part of it.”

Colton Orr was also not cleared to skate today. He has a bone bruise on his leg. Also among the absences due to injury were Matt Finn and Kenny Ryan. Finn injured his shoulder during last week’s rookie tournament.
