Hal Gill Invited to Philadelphia Flyers Training Camp

Former Nashville Predators defenseman Hal Gill has been invited to training camp by the Philadelphia Flyers as a tryout. I think this is a great move by the Flyers. Last season they seemed to have trouble on defense, not for lack of talent but rather due to injuries and not having sufficient replacements for injured defensemen. Gill would definitely bring experience to the team having played 1012 NHL games in his career.

I know what you are thinking why a tryout and not a signing. Well, his scoring ability has not been good at all. He had 0 points last season and ended the season at a -3. In his career he only has 182 points. Scoring isn’t everything for a defenseman but I understand why the Flyers would like to see him play first.

What do you think? Will Hal make the Flyers? Should the Flyers sign him? Is there another free agent they should be looking at instead? Leave your comments in the box below, on twitter, or on facebook!
