The Nashville Predators have been coming into their own for the past couple of years now. Their Cup run two years ago was good, but the last season was sluggish. Goaltender Pekka Rinnewent through some kind of phase, and didn’t play his best at all last year. This year is going to be different. I see them taking charge, and tearing up the competition. Here are my predictions for next years’ rising stars.
Mike Fisher is a center for the Predators. He registered 21 points in 38 games last season in the yellow uniform. He has a knack for getting points, and this season, I think he will tear up the center position. If he is put on the right line, he could do some major damage to the goalies league-wide. He definitely won’t be the best offensive player on the team, but he will be a top-six forward.
Viktor Stalbergwent to Nashville after winning the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks. He scored 23 points in his 47-game season, and only registered 3 assists in his 19-game playoff run. His regular season +16 rating was good, but he could do a lot better. I see him being a big playmaker for the Preds, and it will be nice watching him zip through defensemen and put the puck in the net every now and then.
Big bad captain Shea Weber has been the face of the organization for a while. Last year he notched 28 points in 48 games. He is one tough player who knows how to hit and how to fire lasers into the back of the net from the blue line. I see a lot more goals out of him, and don’t be surprised if he is one of the teams’ point leaders next season. With his style of play, he will be one of the top defensemen around the league, and he is going to be for years to come. Just watch how he plays. There is no doubt he will be great this year.
These are my three picks for who will be great Predators next season. I’d like to hear who you think should be on this list. You can tweet us @TMMotS and myself @NardoneDylan. Make sure to stop by tomorrow to see who I pick for the three rising stars of the New Jersey Devils.
