The Dallas Stars is the team I would classify as “Most Likely to Succeed” this season. With new additions like Rich Peverley and Tyler Seguin (Boston Bruins), Shawn Horcoff (Edmonton Oilers), and defensive master Sergei Gonchar (Ottawa Senators), they are sure going to be a stronger team. This comes in addition to their new logo, which I like very much! Do any of these new acquires make my list for the rising stars in Dallas?
Jamie Benn is an impressive player, no doubt. He racked up 33 points last season, and only participated in 41 games. After the team gave Brenden Morrowto Pittsburgh last season, I thought for sure he would have the “C” stitched on his jersey. He seems like the only player on Dallas that they would give it to. Next season I predict he is going to hit 40 or 50 points. He is going to be one great player, and he likes to set up goals. This will really help Dallas, especially with the talent that they just picked up.
Brenden Dillon is a name I heard a lot of last season. He is a strong defensive player, and finished his 48-game season with 8 points and a +1 rating. He terrorizes opponents and helps out his goaltender as much as he can. I guess he doesn’t care about scoring or assisting, as long as he can keep the puck out of his own net. This is going to be a name you hear a lot of next season, I guarantee it!
Sergei Gonchar has got to be on my top 10 favorite defenders list. He plays a great physical game and knows how to shut down opposing forwards. I was actually shocked to find out that he left Ottawa to go to Dallas, but if he could be part of this new Dallas look, it will most likely give them a great amount of momentum to run with. I can see Dallas making a dent in the playoffs this season, and Gonchar will be a contributing factor when they do make it.
These are my three stars for the Dallas Stars. Who do you think will make a huge difference for this new Dallas team? Tweet me @NardoneDylan and our website @TMMotS. You can email us any questions at [email protected] and email me personally at [email protected].
