Dallas Eakins to Coach the Dallas Stars?

According to Darren Dreger the Toronto Maple Leafs have granted the Dallas Stars permession to talk to Toronto Marlies coach Dallas Eakins. Eakins has been coaching the Marlies since 2009 and was granted a three-year contract extension before this past season which he has two-years left on. As part of this deal Eakins was not allowed to entertain NHL coaching offers in the first year of his contract. That year was up when the Marlies were eliminated in the second round of the AHL playoffs.

The Stars are not the only team interested in Eakins. His name has also come up in the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks search for a coach as well as for an associate coach position with the Edmonton Oilers but personally I think it would be awesome if Dallas was coaching Dallas.

Where do you think Eakins will end up? Will he get an NHL coaching job or remain with the Marlies? Share your thoughts in the comment box below, on facebook, on twitter (@kcapp22 or @TMMotS), or by email ([email protected]).

Canucks, Mike Gillis likes a new fresh approach to things, a young up and comer coach falls in line with that.

DE played as captain on the Wolves with Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa as well…perfect timing to start coaching the Canucks who need a vibrant fresh coach to kickstart a new beginning.
