It is official, despite a lot of reports that it wouldn’t happen, John Tortorella has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the New York Rangers. Tom Gulitti had an interesting comment about the firing via twitter:

If this report is true it would explain why most insiders believed that Tortorella would still be coach of the Rangers next season. It is unclear at the moment what Torts will do next. Personally I cannot wait for the press conference. Tortorella’s coaching style has always been questionable. The Rangers and Flyers HBO 24/7 special definitely gave the fans insight into it. The way he works might not help him find another job coaching. I think he will be way better suited working for the media because if there is one thing Torts is, its entertaining.

As for the future of the Rangers the name Lindy Ruff has already been mentioned. According to John Vogl the Rangers are on the top of Ruff’s job wish list, the question now is do the Rangers want him.

Where do you think Tortorella will end up? Who will be coach of the Rangers? Share your thoughts in the comment box below, on facebook, on twitter (@kcapp22 or @TMMotS), or by email ([email protected]).
