When Jason Spezza addressed the media today he revealed that for the games he played for the Ottawa Senators during the playoffs he had a torn MCL. Spezza reported suffered the injury during his rehabilitation from the back surgery he underwent early in the season. He also said that he suffered a setback three weeks into his rehab though he didn’t get into specifics.

Spezza will be undergoing surgery on his knee to repair the tear and it is expected that his recovery time will be about 2-3 weeks. I don’t know if he will be keeping on schedule with how things have been going so far for his recovery but he does have the entire off season to work his way back to the Jason Spezza Senators fans know and love.

Erik Karlsson also talked about his injury this season. He said that he still needs time to heal. He wasn’t a hundred percent and couldn’t do the things he wanted to but he is glad he returned. He now has the summer to get back to his Norris Trophy winning self. If both these guys make it back to their talented selves the Senators will definitely be in the running for the cup next year.
