Injury Update: Bryce Salvador, Ilya Kovalchuk, Nicklas Grossmann, Kris Letang, and Jason Spezza

Alright let’s start with the New Jersey Devils. According to Tom Gulitti, Bryce Salvador has a significant bruise on his right wrist and is listed as day-to-day. This bruise was a result of taking a Zdeno Chara shot to the hand in last night’s Devils game against the Boston Bruins. Coach Pete DeBoer had this to say regarding Salvador’s injury:

“You stand in front of a Chara slap shot, there’s a potential bad things are going to happen,” DeBoer said. “But it shows you his mindset, what he’s willing to do during the game. Like I said last night, that’s why he’s our captain.”

Also listed as day-to-day is Ilya Kovalchuk but DeBoer said he would definitely not be playing in tomorrow night’s game.

Yesterday the Philadelphia Flyers announced the timeline on Nicklas Grossmann. According to Frank Seravelli he will be out for 2-3 weeks, which could mean the rest of the season. Grossmann is suffering from a concussion.

According to Dave Pagnotta Kris Letang will be back in the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup tonight. He has been out since he attempted a return on March 26 but was placed back on injured reserve on the 27. Hopefully this time he will be ready to come back.

Ian Mendes had a short report on the status of Jason Spezza of the Ottawa Senators. Spezza is feeling better but hasn’t skated and there is no timeline yet on his return.
