Ryan O’Byrne Traded to Toronto Maple Leafs

The Colorado Avalanche have traded Ryan O’Byrne to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a 2014 4th round pick. O’Byrne has played in 34 games for the Avalanche this season. In those game he has 1 goal and 3 assists, he is at a -8 ranking and was ranked 2nd on the Avalanche in hits with 76. In his career he has played 300 games split between the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche. In these games he has 4 goals and 33 assists.

Ryan Hamilton has been reassigned to the Leafs AHL affiliatethe Toronto Marlies in order to make room for O’Byrne. O’Byrne’s former teammate Gabriel Landeskog said this via twitter about the trade:

O’Byrne played with current Leaf John-Michael Liles in Colorado for a time, so it is expected that the two will be a defensive pairing. O’Byrne is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
