The Buffalo Sabres have traded Jason Pominville to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for goaltender Matt Hackett and forward Johan Larsson. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the Sabres who appear to be selling off assets in order to rebuild. Pominville played in 37 games this season where he got 10 goals and 15 assists.
Earlier this week Pominville was asked to submit a list of 8 teams he would refuse a trade to as per his limited no-trade clause. He has one year left on his contract with a cap hit of 5.3 million dollars.
Michael Russo tweeted this comment from Pominville’s new teammate Zach Parise:
Parise on #mnwild adding Pominville: “It just gives you the sense that they believe in the way we’ve been playing & they believe in our team

According to Mike Harrington Pomiville could make his Wild debut in tomorrow night’s game against the Los Angeles Kings. Wild Coach Mike Yeo apparently had a hard time pulling Hackett and Larsson from practice to tell them the news according to Michael Russo:
On pulling Hackett and Larsson from the ice, Yeo said, “That is always a tough part of it. It’s not an easy thing, for sure.“Especially for young kids, you just don’t quite know what’s going on. I’m able to say very little. Obviously we know it sure sounds like something is going on.”
