Injury Update: Crosby, Talbot, Foligno, Zetterberg, and Samuelsson

Sidney Crosby is out indefinitely after having surgery for a broken jaw according to the Pittsburgh Penguins twitter account. Penguins general manager Ray Shero said via twitter there is no sign of a concussion though they will continue to monitor him for it. He also said Crosby’s jaw is not wired shut which is a good sign in terms of how long his recovery will be.

Maxime Talbot left last night’s Philadelphia Flyers game against the Washington Capitals in the second period with a lower body injury and did not return. Still no news on a timeline for this injury. UPDATE: This morning the Flyers tweeted that he is out indefinitely with a broken left leg.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed Nick Foligno on injured reserve. He has missed the Blue Jackets last 2 games with an upper body injury.

Henrik Zetterberg did not play in last night’s Detroit Red Wings game against the Chicago Blackhawks due to a groin injury. His status is day-to-day but he will not be playing in tonights game against the Colorado Avalanche according to Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press. Mikael Samuelsson, who has only played in 4 games this season due to injury, left last night’s game with an upper body injury. Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said his status was day-to-day but he will undergo some tests today as a precaution.
