NHL Trade Rumors: Flyers, Sharks, Avalanche and Maple Leafs

Frank Seravelli of the Philadelphia Daily news reported that Philadelphia Flyers’ brass were in Minnesota recently to check out some NCAA action and the Minnesota Wild play the San Jose Sharks. Seravelli thinks that the Flyers could be looking at Brent Burns instead of Dan Boyle to fill their defensive needs. Burns has more time left on his contract than Boyle so would be a better pick up for the future.

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE also had some rumors about the Flyers. Apparently there were talks between them and the Boston Bruins that would see Danny Briere go to Boston for Jordan Caron and a draft pick. This discussion however ended with Briere’s concussion (poor Bruins can’t seem to catch a break).

Lastly the Fourth Period had some things to say on the Colorado Avalanche. An NHL executive said that Paul Stastny is not expected to be moved at the deadline though there were brief talks about him with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Fourth Period also reported that the Avalanche were looking into Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle. To get Yandle however they would need to give up one of their young stars, which the Avalanche may be unwilling to do.
