NHL Trade Rumors: Leafs, Flyers, Bruins, Stars, Senators, and Canucks

Darren Dreger had a lot to say, let’s start with his talks about the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to him the Leafs have not been talking to the Vancouver Canucks about Roberto Luongo or anyone else. He also said that the Leafs might inquire about Miikka Kiprusoff if the Calgary Flames make him available, as they would still like to add a veteran goalie. However there is only interest in Kiprusoff, which doesn’t mean that trade talks or offers have been made.

Dreger also had some speculation about the Philadelphia Flyers. He said that Danny Briere could possibly go to the Montreal Canadiens for a draft pick but only if he is healthy and willing to waive his no-trade clause. He also reported that the Flyers could do a trade with the Anaheim Ducks where they would swap Sean Couturier for Bobby Ryan. Spector’s Hockey said however that this move will likely not happen until the off-season.

According to Joe Haggerty of CSN the Boston Bruins could be looking into other top six forwards if the asking price for Jarome Iginla is too high. He mentioned the names Jaromir Jagr and Martin St. Louis.

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN has also done a lot of speculating. According to him the Dallas Stars have been in talks with the Ottawa Senators about Derek Roy but the price might be too high for the Senators. LeBrun also reported that teams have been asking the Vancouver Canucks not only about Roberto Luongo but also Cory Schneider. Although the Canucks could get more for Schneider they are not likely to move him. Any trade for them won’t come until the end of the season.

Dont want anything to do with Jagr. I want Martin St Louis before anyone else for Bruins. Then IF they are able to acquire him, they need a depth Dman.

    • Katrina Capp

They seem to be making a real push for Iginla if anything. There is a lot about the Bruins in my Iginla update as well

      • Willy W

Way too much to give up for a rental player IMO. I also question whether he would be the right fit on this team. I would Only acquire him if he signed a reasonable extension.

        • Katrina Capp

The pick will most likely be conditional upon Iginla signing with the Bruins IMO it is a lot for a rental player

          • Willy W

That would be more palatable IMO with 1 conscession, I wouldnt include Subban. In fact the Only player(s) Id move Subban for would be a Sidney Crosby type player and Iginla isnt that.

          • Katrina Capp

Idk I think Subban is a bit over-rated most of the attention he gets is because of his name/brother

          • Willy W

His scouting reports are rather good to great. He is extremely quick side to side with a decent glove hand that should & must improve. He also has very good instincts. His biggest knock, which is coachable, is the fact he doesnt try to see through people or get a better visual angle on the shooter. He is rated to be a clear cut #1 Goalie.
I am Not sold on Rask, like but dont love Houby or as some call him Dr Khu, so other than Subban the only other Goalie in the system that looks solid is the Swedish Goalie Svedberg.

          • Katrina Capp

Rask is doing well enough right now. You can always make trades in the future to fix the goalie problem if you need to.

          • Willy W

True but I believe every NHL team has a limited window of time to try and win a cup. And as the last few years have shown, you need a good & Hot Goalie in the playoffs, IE Thomas stood on his head to win the cup for his team. I just dont see that same passion & commitment from Rask so…
