NHL Trade Rumor Roundup: Bruins, Sabres, Flames, and Oilers

There are some interesting trade rumors involving the Boston Bruins today. Jimmy Murphy of ESPN Boston said via twitter that the Bruins are taking special interest in Ryane Clowe of the San Jose Sharks but the asking price is currently too high. He also said that the Bruins were shopping Rich Peverley but not anymore depending on the condition of Chris KellyJimmy Murphy also said via twitter that the Nashville Predators may be offering up center Paul Gaustad.

The Fourth Period reported that the Buffalo Sabres are close to making some moves. These moves are said to involve defensmen Robyn Regehr and Jordan Leopold. Also it has been reported that Drew Stafford would welcome a trade.

According to Vicki Hall of the Calgary Herald a scout from the Pittsburgh Penguins has been watching the Calgary Flames for the last few weeks. Also 3 members of the Bruins staff watched Saturday’s game. With the amount of rumors swirling around Calgary they really could be looking at anybody.

Joanne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal talked to Edmonton Oilers GM Steve Tambellini. He said he would make moves but not at the expense of youth:

“Whether you’re in the playoffs or not, if you can upgrade your team or improve it, we’ll do that, but most of the people here are the people we’re going to be counting on for some time,” Tambellini said. “You’re not going to give up youth just for a quick fix there, that’s for sure.”

It is clear that if Tambellini does make a move that it will be for a long term solution, not just a player to get them to the playoffs this year.
