Ben Scrivens: Back-to-Back Shut-Outs for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs fans were filled with worry when in the February 11 game against the Philadelphia Flyers James Reimer was lead off the ice injured. However relief came in the form of Ben Scrivens who has been amazing in the place of Reimer, especially in the last two games.

Between Saturday’s game against Ottawa Senators and last night’s game against the Florida Panthers Ben Scrivens now has back-to-back shut-outs. When asked about the shut-outs by Paul Hendrick, the ever classy Scrivens gave credit to the team in front of him saying “A shut-out is a team stat not strictly a goaltender stat”.

The team in front of Ben also had a great night. Phil Kessel had the first with a beauty snipe (for me to say that Kessel’s goal was nice is huge because we all know how I feel about him). The real stars of the game (other than Scrivens) were Nazem Kadri and Clarke MacArthur who each got a goal and an assist.

The Leafs have definitely come to play and it will be interesting to see how they do tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Will they be able to keep Steven Stamkos at bay and give Scrivens another shut-out? Will playing back-to-back games tire them out? What do you think? Leave your comments in the comment box below.
