President Obama Tells The NHL And NHLPA To "Get This Done"

The United States of America’s Commander in Chief, President Barack Obama, was on the Jay Leno show last night and was asked about his thoughts on the NHL lockout.

Here is what President Obama had to say, “Every time these things happen I just want to remind the owners and the players, you guys make money because you’ve got a whole bunch of fans out there who are working really hard, they buy tickets, they’re watching on TV. Y’all should be able to figure this out. Get this done.” (Video of his comments can be found HERE.)

Now while I don’t always agree with Obama’s political stances and views, I must say the man has a point. The NHL and NHLPA should be able to figure this lockout out and they should be able to get it done.

However I must say the cynic in me is not surprised that someone who got to where they are (the White House) based on voters and public opinion sided with the fans. President Obama is a sharp man and he understands that without his fans/supporters he wouldn’t be where he is today. That leads him to understand that the NHL and its players also wouldn’t be where they are without the fans.

Let me clarify that because I know the players earned their way into the NHL and the owners bought the teams they own. My point is that if not for the fans and the people who support the game, neither side would have any money to be arguing over. So, like President Obama said, “Get this done”.
