Dynamo Moscow to play SKA St.Petersburg at Barclays Center

As you know by now, the New York Islanders are moving to Brooklyn to play at the Barclays Center. This is exciting for many Islander fans in the area and is expected to bring a new group of fans to the game of ice hockey. But this excitement will have to be put on hold until 2015, the year they make the move.

However, I write this article bringing exciting news! Hockey will be played at the Barclays Center regardless of when the Islanders transfer. The KHL has announced that Dynamo Moscow will face off against their rival SKA St.Petersburg on January 19th and 20th at the Barclays Center. These will count as regular season games, so be prepared to witness some hard fought hockey.

North American fans are getting the chance to see two very well known NHL superstars, Alexander Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk, face off in two different uniforms. Both of their respected teams are currently having tremendous success in the KHL, and so are they, playing in front of their home country. Hopefully they will bring that same momentum here when they clash in NYC.
