Here are NHL.com’s Top 10 Saves of the Week, 3/16/12 edition.
It is hard for me to decide what type of save is my favorite. I will bounce back and forth on that topic. At this time, my favorites are kick saves. I just love to see the goalies kick that leg out there and see the puck go flying. But there were none of those in this batch. But a great glove save, where you can’t believe the goalie was quick enough to even get the glove up there, let alone catch the puck, is a thing of beauty as well.
The number ten save of last week was one such glove save by Jonas Hiller of the Anaheim Ducks. His glove just came up out of nowhere and grabbed that puck. Gorgeous!
And I would be remiss if I did not make mention of the number nine save from Marty Turco of the Boston Bruins. First of all, it deserves mentioning since Turco was just signed by Boston recently after being away from the NHL for the earlier part of the season after not being signed as a free agent. So it warmed my heart to see him suit up in the NHL again. And then to have this save, where he was rolling on his back, looking almost like a windmill, was great stuff.
And you know me, I can’t let a José Theodore save go by without at least mentioning it. Always fun to see my favorite make the top ten, this time at number eight, using every inch of his 5’11″ frame to make the second save off a rebound.
