Ian Jenkins, who impressed at the NTDP camp and was a 2nd round selection by the London Knights in the 2011 OHL Draft, was taken off life support today. The Ypsilanti, Michigan native had been involved in a car accident in which his head struck the pavement. There aren’t many details about the accident, but alcohol was reportedly not involved.
Based on everything I’ve read about him, the hockey world lost not just a great player but a great kid. All of the cliches about things out there being more important than hockey certainly ring true tonight.
