This past week saw each team begin preparation for the start of training camp which for most happened on Saturday. Also, a few teams participated in some “Rookie” games to sort of wet our appetite. Still, there was news to report and items that you our readers and fans need to know.

Here are the top stories from the FanSided NHL network for last week.

Causeway Crowd has some news and notes about the Bruins training camp that took place last week. Tyler Seguin had to be the most watched player.

The biggest battle for jobs in Buffalo seems to be on their backline.  Read Sabre Noise to find out who’s battling who.

P.K. Subban is looking to prove that he belongs in Montreal for the start of the season.  Their team certainly played better with him in the lineup during last years playoffs.  Here’s A Winning Habit’s peek inside the training camp of the Habs.

Known in the past for his big mouth, Sean Avery doesn’t upset once again, as he leaks a picture of the Rangers new third sweater. Blue Line Station details the leak.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be defending their Stanley Cup victory all season with a lot of changes.  A real test for their roster and heach coach Joel QuennevilleBlackhawk Up has the insight into the Q-Stash’s upcoming season.

Does Mike Babcock coach of the Red Wings deserve an extension?  Octopus Thrower thinks so.

In a very strange turn of events Oilers defenceman Sheldon Souray was uninvited to camp.  Oil On Whyte provides the story.  All I can say is weird.

Rink Royalty has been doing a wonderful job covering each team and predicting their outcome.  Rather than list each one, your better off just going to the site, and then checking back every day.

The Minnesota Wild have some work to do to improve and get themselves back into the playoffs.  Gone Puck Wild has a great list of items that need to be accomplished.

The Florida Panthers rookies hosted the Nashville Predators rookies in Florida.  I was at game one, and it was all Nashville.  Predlines takes offence to some elbows that were thrown late on the contest.  Can’t blame her, and the elbow thrower will not be on the Panthers roster this year.

In another strange turn of events, Eric Belanger ends up in Phoenix.  Howlin Hockey is appreciative.

Another team that’s on the bubble and wanting back into the playoffs are the St. Louis Blues.  Bleedin Blue has some notes on their rookie games.  Could there be a hyoungster worth giving a chance to?

Big news in Vancouver last week as Roberto Luongo gives up the captaincy. The Canuck Way looks at that story and the young stars tournament in Penticton.
