Patrick Kane knew it was in. The Blackhawks video coach knew it was in.
He used to tell his father, also named Patrick, that when the game’s on the line, he wants the puck. Well last night son, you got your wish, and your dream came true! Pinch yourself Patrick, this isn’t a dream and you didn’t just do this on the pond.
This is real!
In a stunning finish to one of the most exciting playoff runs in recent history, the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime on a quick wrist shot that Flyer goaltender Michael Leighton is still looking for.
The 49 year drought is over! After last winning a Stanley Cup Championship in 1961, the Chicago Blackhawks have finally achieved Championship status again. With chances in 1965, 1971, 1973 and 1992, Chicago brought home the Cup last night. It actually landed at 3:47 central time!
A terrific series and terrific matchup with hard fought battles and scoring chances plentiful, this was quite the victory.

As a Chicago Blackhawk fan for many, many years, I’m speechless! I can’t tell you how good this feels.
Maybe you can watch this Jeremy Roenick moment from NBC, and get an idea.
One of the best quotes from last night came from Kane himself: ” Hopefully there’s alot of girls who like me now”. I’d bet on it!
Congratulations to Philadelphia for a well played series. Our own Broad Street Buzz will give you the Flyers side of things.
